My Life: A Workbook
The introduction to this workbook is perfect. It completely explains the purpose of the workbook - to know yourself completely. In order to believe in yourself you need to know yourself. You need to truly understand yourself, including your likes and dislikes, to discover what is best for you. This workbook is personal. Its focus is solely on you. It is a guide of questions both simple and difficult to really truly understand yourself. Everyone has a right to be happy, this workbook is a tool to help you get there, or simply better understand yourself. The workbook is a work in progress for me. While some of the questions are easy to honestly answer, others require more self-examining. There are questions I have never thought of or considered previously. They are a new thought and way to learn more about myself. Other questions are not as comfortable to answer, simply because I don’t like my answer, even though it is the truth. I don’t want to admit it is true or that that is how I think or feel. I think that is the point of this workbook, self-discovery. It is not always easy, but it is something we should all accomplish. It is part of who we are, what we will become and where we are currently in our life. Who can truly love another without knowing themselves first? If you don’t love yourself can you love others completely? This workbook gives you an insight into who you are, but also makes you question and ponder things. I think “My Life: A Workbook” by Lyzz Yamazaki is cute. The size is handy. It is very easy to fit into a purse or briefcase. The pages and illustrations are happy. I wasn’t sure how some of the questions fit, such as “What is your star sign?” I wouldn’t consider my star sign or horoscope anything to do with me; because it also fits millions of other people in the world, and is not a picture of any one person. Things like this also have no bearing on me or how I came to be me, because the star/horoscope was never part of my life or had anything to do with raising me. It was not an influence. Overall, I really like this workbook. It is fun to get to know me, especially areas I have not ever considered or really thought about. I think the workbook would be something anyone could accomplish, just to be more in tune with yourself and hopefully be able to better others lives by bettering your own. |
