KAPOW! 64 Blasts to Blow the Lid Off Your Job Performance!
Tim Wright, President of Wright Results works with businesses and organizations that want to help people increase their performance. “KAPOW!” is a pocket size book that can help anyone improve their performance quickly. Wright divides the book into four critical factors: Awareness, Appreciation, Strategy and Accountability. For each critical factor he suggests several BLASTS that will help the reader increase personal awareness, or appreciation, or strategy or accountability. For example: for his first awareness BLAST, he recommends that the reader buy a notebook and make that notebook their Blow the Lid Off (BTLO) notebook. The notebook is basically to be used for reflection about how the various BLASTS are helping the reader improve their performance. For the reader who thinks that a notebook (diary) is not for them, they should be aware that Wright is working with the current research that reflection is an important part of success for any individual. The reflection can be in any form that the participant chooses to use, but the reflection needs to be written for the participant to get the most out of the process. This reflection component is a key part of many of Wright’s suggested BLASTS. Another suggested BLAST from Wright is the ideal of Partner Up (Awareness Blast #11). Or another way it has been described is “Critical Friend”. The reader finds someone to listen to them to help them think through their problem on their own, not to solve the problem or concern, but for the person to find their own solution. The Partner or Critical Friend is just a sounding board for the person to get support from. In each section, Awareness, Appreciation, Strategy and Accountability, Wright’s BLASTS gives the reader specific strategies that the reader can use to “Blow the Lid Off Your Job Performance.” The book is designed so the reader can start at the beginning of the book and work his or her way through the book in sequence or the reader can jump around from Awareness to Accountability to Strategy or Appreciation or in any order the reader chooses. Each BLAST is a short read and the reader can quickly read and decide if each BLAST is something that they would like to use to try to improve their performance. I would definitely recommend the book to anyone who is trying to improve their job performance. The 64 BLASTS are quick reads. The book is pocket size so it can be slipped in the pocket or purse and the book pulled out when the reader has time to scan. It is not a book that you have to invest a lot of time in to get some immediate benefits. That is a plus in today’s busy world. |
