From the first sentence to the last, “The Art of Nameology: Uncovering the Meaning Behind a Name,” author Norma J. Watts opens a new window on personality types, how our names are a part of who we are, and what we ultimately become as people because of these names.  With each letter in a name being assigned a number and the numbers being converted for a single “power number,” we readily see how our names hold a meaning all their own.  Through easy-to-understand instruction in converting names to numbers, explanations of power numbers and intensity numbers, as well as name compatibility, the author clearly explains the process of finding the meaning of any name.

Each number within a person’s name corresponds to a basic personality trait and through adding these letters together we see how all these numbers become traits and how they all  fit together to reveal the person behind the name.  The reader learns how the first letter of a name is an important letter and how through adding each letter, one at a time, we come up with parts of personality we might never have realized existed!  The hidden numbers within names also are addressed within this book and it is explained how these numbers can have a huge influence upon the personality.

To further simplify for the reader, we find within this book, hundreds of names and their definitions of personality.  It is all too easy to find one searching for names of friends and family while reading “The Art of Nameology” and seeing clearly their personalities and how they are in fact defined through their names.

The author, Norma J. Watts, opens a whole new way of understanding personalities through the age old use of nameology and through her easy to follow instructions, even those with a relatively new interest in nameology can find through her book, the meaning behind a name.

I found this book to be amazingly insightful as to the personalities of family and friends and the instructions simple enough that even I could transform a unique friend’s name, and come up with a strikingly  “on the mark” definition of her personality.

I would wholeheartedly recommend “The Art of Nameology” for anyone who simply wants to have a better understanding of names and how they can mold a personality.  It is a fascinating book and one that will easily become a bookshelf favorite, as you are certain to refer to it again and again, as I do, when wanting to know more about the personalities of family and friends through their names.
