Let me start by stating Norma Tillman is an experienced and successful Private Investigator, and is a truly credible source of legitimate and reliable information not only for anyone aspiring to the field, but for those who simply want a great book to read.  Ms. Tillman takes us through each step of becoming a private investigator (and provides the specifics for each state), and discusses why the work is both interesting and rewarding.  She is meticulous in providing detailed information regarding the various types of investigations, how to get started, what is involved in managing the business, and resources available.

As the now retired Chief of Police of a city near Seattle, I worked with and around private investigators many times in my career.  I found them to be hard working, honorable people doing a good job.  Ms. Tillman gives us some of her experiences – “war stories” – that are real, but at the same time entertain the reader and show some of the realities of the work.  I might also note that in addition to being a great Private Investigator, Ms. Tillman is a great author.  The book is a classic text for the business, and is well written and articulate.  I will find myself waiting for Ms. Tillman’s next book.  Well done on this one.
