52 Things Kids Need from a Mom: What Mothers Can Do to Make a Lifelong Difference
Every kid needs their mom! For that matter they need their father as well, but there is no bond in the world stronger than that of a mother and her child. It’s a major reason why neglect is so hard to understand for mothers who devote their lives to their children. The question every mom faces when they become a mother is “Will I be a good mom?” And “How do I be a good mom?” Every mother who asks these questions wants what’s best for their children, but what do kids need? Where do you place your time and attention? Kid’s need a lot so where do you start? “52 Things Kids Need from a Mom” is a book that helps explain these questions and so many more. Whether you’re a first time mom, or a veteran, this book has positive and practical applications and thoughts to renew the spirit and give you the encouragement and understanding you need to raise happy, healthy and spiritual children. I loved the unique aspects of this book. It is incredibly easy to read, which makes it obvious the writer is a mom! The chapters are short and simple. It’s a book you can read during each of the few down moments you get a day! I read this chapter by chapter as I had moments to myself. There are wonderfully unique “items” in this book that made me smile. Chapters such as “Teach girls how to love a husband” and “Teach boys how to love a wife” were unexpected and thought-provoking. After all, doesn’t training start from day one? Isn’t it well known that children learn from their parents actions? Children are sensory oriented. They learn with their sight, they learn with smell, they learn with touch, and they learn with their hearing. Every aspect of our lives is under the microscope, so to speak, when we talk about parenting and our children. This book reminds and encourages moms to love and care for their children in ways we know and in many ways we might forget. There are chapters for single moms that give encouragement and understanding. The book teaches respect, love, patience, kindness and the importance of setting a positive role model and a good example. There are unique ideas such as “Keeping a family blog” (only for the 4 of you) and shocking inclusions such as recipes. While the book has plenty of serious topics for moms, it also has light hearted subjects such as “Teach them to Indulge in Their Silly” that remind us to be happy and carefree at times. I really learned a lot of different little things and a few big things from this book. I was reminded of simple lessons that are learned and encouraged by learning new lessons to pass on to my children. I would recommend this book for any mom! It is wonderfully done and encouraging to read. I enjoyed the time spent with it and feel as if I have been empowered to be a better mother, simply because I refilled my bucket. After all, you can only give what you have. While we give to our children, we need to fill ourselves as well. “52 Things Kids Need from a Mom” is an encouraging and helpful book - one of the best ways to help fill any moms bucket! |
