![]() The Abduction of Miss Jenny ChandlerTeri Thackston
Jenny Chandler stumbles upon Captain John Grayling in the embrace of a woman, while she is chasing down her sister’s runaway rabbit. She overhears his lover telling him that she is marrying another man. Shortly after, all hell breaks loose and Jenny and the woman are kidnapped by horse stealing bandits. When Captain Grayling, a Texas Ranger, comes after them, he is shot in the leg. It is up to Jenny to take the bullet out. Sebastian Romero, the man who led the raid, hopes to take horses, Graying and Jenny to an Indian Chief. Grayling killed his fourteen-year-old son, and Romero knows that he can benefit by delivering him. Jenny and Grayling must escape from these men, together with the rabbit, of course. As Grayling tries to get her to a safe place, they find themselves being more attracted to each other. Grayling has a problem with this because he has just given up on women and he thinks that Jenny is actually younger than she is. He also knows that she is accustomed to living a wealthy lifestyle. Jenny doesn’t care, she just wants him. As they travel across Texas, they re-encounter their captors and a few more unsavory, dishonest people. They have to figure out how they can trust and that they need to enlist the aid of men whom Grayling has worked with before. It is a difficult time for them. The Indian Chief wants to kill them both. Other people attempt to. Meanwhile, their feelings for each other deepen. “The Abduction of Miss Jenny Chandler” is a fast-paced western romance. Ms. Thackston has done an excellent job with developing this plot. Both Jenny and Graylings’ characters go through a metamorphosis as they discover their true feelings for each other. Jenny does a lot of growing up, and Grayling has to learn to open his heart up for the right woman. This novel should not be missed by fans of western romances. |
