Jack Seymour at the age of twelve witnessed his father’s death and never got over the trauma of it. His marriage to Madeleine is wonderful and he seems to be happy with the way his life is going. Later their daughter Mollie dies and Jack is once again traumatized and Madeleine blames herself for her daughter’s death. Obsessed with finding this doctor Jack and Madeleine and their summer charge, Elena, fly to France to find her. Dr. DuPres has fled to her homeland to find herself again and doesn’t want anyone to know where she is. With Jack, Madeleine and Elena on her trail, Dr. DuPres continues to elude them. The author takes us through the beauty of France, visiting historical sites along the way where everyone tries to get Jack to believe in the higher power again. Her vivid descriptions of churches, villages and the power of miracles are breathtaking. This is a book that is fast-paced and full of drama.
