Looking on your shelves you see those books you just have to hold onto. You sort through your collection again and again but never seem to give up your favorites. Michael J. Sullivan has written a book I will read over and over again and it most definitely will always reside on my favorite’s shelf. “The Crown Conspiracy” is a suspense thriller that had me holding my breath with each turn of the page. I kept envisioning one of those movies that have the dramatic music in the background, getting more and more intense until, bam! Over and over again we travel with Royce and his trusty (I say that loosely) sidekick Hadrian Blackwater. They are living their lives to the fullest, making money and having a good time. Melengar is quite the place. I love all of the “tis” and such and this unknown land is like no other. Each page will make you think, not the really deep kind of think, just rethink what you just read and put it all into perspective. This is not a book you would want to read with a glass of wine.
You will not be overwhelmed with the tale just traveling along at a pleasant pace weaving through murder and mayhem. I will anxiously be waiting for the release of the second book in this series, “Avempartha..” With book number two more questions will be answered. I think “The Crown Conspiracy” by Michael J. Sullivan would make a great movie. The characters were witty and likeable, and the story was very believable, something you could actually see happening.
