“Perfecting Pearl” is published on-line by Ellora’s Cave and falls into the Romantica® level of E-Rotic.  E-rotic is described by Ellora’s Cave as loves scenes that are explicit, leave nothing to the imagination, and are high in volume per the overall word count.  E-rated titles might contain material that some readers find objectionable – in other words, almost anything goes, sexually.   I found this to be a beautifully written short love story about a gay couple finding happiness at last.

Even though Sean Pearl came out after his parents passed away, he grew up in a man’s man household and is still uncomfortable with meeting people and dating.  Unlike Sean, his best friend, Tom Little, is very comfortable and a real girl’s girl.  His description actually reminded me of Carson of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, who I would love to have for a friend.  Tom is horrified to find out that Sean has been with other men, but is technically still a virgin.  They decide that it is time to find Sean the right guy.   After several months, Sean sees a very attractive guy slip on the ice and drop his packages.  As Tom helps Terry out, he finds that he really likes him.  They decide to have a friendly lunch and during it establish that they are both gay.  Terry has been in and out of a lot of relationships and likes Sean a lot.  After that they begin to see each other, fall in love and build a life together.

Life throws some very unexpected twists at Sean and Terry, but they meet them head on and build a solid, happy relationship.  With “Perfecting Pearl,” Ruby Storm has written a wonderful short love story (it is only 70-pages long) about finding love in today’s society.  I found myself rooting for Sean and Terry as they find a life together.
