Herbert Spohn has taken various themes that individuals encounter through their life and set these themes to poetry. . His ability to capture what we often think, but cannot express, is well done.  The chapters in the book are not titled but revolve around different themes such as love, loss, and aging.  In the beginning of each theme he describes what the poems are about.

In the section of narrative poems, the author relates that they are conversations and internal monologues. The author has a varied history of being a veteran and psychotherapist, which gives him the ability to reflect on personal aspects of his life. In “Do You Know Me? Do I Know You?,” author Herbert Spohn  puts into words what each of us often feel and think.
