If your preference is for poetry written in simple rhyming words, this small book is for you. In 70 pages of verse, the author expresses heartfelt sentiments about a wide variety of subjects. She extends her window sill wisdom to issues of love, friendship, sadness, joy, insomnia, deception, betrayal, power, promises, motherhood, and many more.  The reader will sense that a lot of living and personal experiences underlie the messages of the poems.

In some poems the author is tearful, for example, “Hard to believe you did this to me. My heart bleeds, how I cry.”  In some poems she is hopeful, for example, “Love nurturing ways will ever remain bound, keeping us together.”  In still another, she is playful - “Heard of the party to beat all parties? Plan on being there, to ‘party hard’.” Then in sharp contrast, readers will feel the pain in the poignant poem, “My Darling Friend.”

The book lends itself to being opened to a page at random where chances are excellent for recognizing the emotions expressed by the author.  When the emotions are hurtful, the recognition of them in verse may provide comfort. The poems are appropriate for any adult reader, but they will be most enjoyed by the mature individual who has lived through and, therefore, understands the subject matter.

There are errors of punctuation and grammar, which will be troublesome to many readers.  The poems would have benefited from careful editing.  “Window Sill Wisdom: Life in Balance” is not for every poetry lover, but it will find a place on the shelves of those who enjoy simple verse, written to express sincere feelings.
