When I first received this book I thought “oh no, not another sister gurl book”, boy was I wrong. This book was very good and entertaining. It is hard to believe that this is her first book and I am looking forward to reading her books in the future.

Desiree is new to Miami and takes a job as a dancer at the Rolexxx club. She meets and befriends a veteran dancer Ginger, who takes her under her guidance and teaches her about the world of exotic dancing and men.

Desiree has dreams, big dreams. She wants to be a star. She has no problem using her looks or sex to get her where she wants to go. The author takes into a tale of exotic dancing, sex for sell, manipulation and drugs. This allows us an inside look into the Miami that we don’t see on television - the seedy underworld of Miami. We go on the ride with Desiree as she goes from runaway, to dancer and heads for stardom.

Yet Desiree has demons in her past that are haunting her. She is a runaway, but what is she running from? Will those demons keep her from achieving the stardom that she desires? Will her willingness to do anything come back to haunt her and jeopardize her career? Will she start to believe that she is the image that she has built up and lose sight of herself? Can her friends trust her, can she trust herself?

This book is not for the squeamish, there is quite a bit of sexuality within this book, but without it the book would be hard to believe. This book reads quickly and engrosses you in the lives of the characters. There is love, sex, violence, money, drugs, stardom and everything in between. I really enjoyed this book, more then I thought I would.
