Fire It Up: More Than 400 Recipes for Grilling Everything
Living in the south we have more hot days than we have cold days, so the more we can grill, the better off we are. And, I like the fact that pretty much everything can be cooked on the grill. For the purpose of the review we are asked to test three recipes. Since we use the grill a lot, I decided to test things I’ve never attempted to grill before. I’m pleased to say I was impressed with the results. The first recipe tested was “Grilled Edamame with Black Sesame Smoked Salt.” I used a very hot grill skillet and left the pods in the pan without moving them until they blistered and whistled. I continued to grill the edamame while tossing every few minutes. The pods were charred and gave a distinct flavor to the beans. The second recipe I tested was “Picnic Ham Smoke-Braised with Hard Cider Mop.” The process was long but well worth it. The hickory chips gave a very distinct smoky flavor and the Bourbon-Cider mop glazed very nicely. The third recipe I tested was “Oysters Grilled with Roasted Garlic Butter and Romano.” Oh my, these were SO good! The one cup butter divided among 24 oysters made them rich and the roasted garlic added a distinct flavor to the oysters. And, then sprinkle that with Romano cheese and grill until the edges brown... What can I say! We had an oyster feast to die for! I thoroughly enjoyed testing recipes on the grill that were new to me. I began to realize there is much more to grilling than just meat, chicken, fish, and veggies. There is a whole world out there. I highly recommend “Fire it Up: More Than 400 Recipes for Grilling Everything” to any grilling enthusiast. If you aren’t an enthusiast, I encourage you to try - you will get hooked! |
