I, Nefertiti
When Nell arrives in Egypt she goes out to the Akhenaten Temple dig. Once inside the temple she finds herself taken back in time. She is now in Nefertiti’s body. Pretending to be Nefertiti, Nell is finally able to act out her sexual passions with Akhenaten. He is confused because his real relationship with Nefertiti has little passion. His vizier tells him that Nefertiti has taken all of the family treasure. Knowing that the vizier is evil, Nell has to convince Akhenaten that he is the one who took the money. Meanwhile, there are a group of people rebelling against the worship of the sun god Aten. They are worshiping a god that has been forbidden to them. Nefertiti and Akhenaten are both in danger. As Nell, she is also in danger of losing her heart to him. She knows she needs to return home, but her heart compels her to stay. “I, Nefertiti” is a beautiful, sensually-written tale. Lacey Savage uses Egyptian history and her creative imagination to rewrite this story of ancient Egypt. Having Nell go back in time to find her true home really made the plot interesting. She has to learn to adapt to living in the past without modern technology and without giving herself away. Her relationship with her “husband” and “sister” compels her to want to stay. She also needs to clear Nefertiti’s name and find out what is really going on. This is one book that should not be missed. |
