Edric Tailrich was a seasoned Hunter; he could have been an officer, but preferred patrol to an office. His commander, Harkin, was surprised when he volunteered for an undercover assignment.  “Taking an undercover assignment means that she (his daughter) will share your exile.”  Fay would be forced to instantly decide whether to join her father in the penal colony or stay in the Hunter Sphere.  She had grown up in the pampered life befitting a Hunter’s daughter, more and better resources.  If she chose to follow her father she would now be an outcast living in a penal colony, a life of poverty and humility.  Fay showed disdain toward males.

Janus had been attracted to Fay for quite sometime, but he demanded submission and she refused to submit.  It was rumored that Janus had quite an appetite for female’s flesh.  It was told that Janus was not tender but took a woman roughly.  Fay felt the desire for him to conqueror her even if she wouldn’t admit it.  Hunter’s shared their women; Janus felt jealous at the thought.  He declared that though he shared her, she was his.  His hunger grew as he anticipated taking her. Janus knew that he must gain her trust to win her love. She knew her body would betray her and succumb to his touch.  Janus placed a training harness on her.  The harness had three small beads that would excite and stimulate her.  Not all the Hunters were as honorable as Janus.  When two young recruits forced their way into Fay’s abode Janus realized he’d have to protect her, she was not safe.  He took her to his home where he mastered her.

“Janus’ Conquest” by Dawn Ryder is a sensual story about two bold, strong-willed people in love but trying to control the other.  Janus is determined to master Fay but love ends up controlling both.  The characters were well developed.  The plot was interesting and moved along well.  There were two stories intertwined, the story of Fay and the story of her father.  I think I want one of those Training Belts.  All in all this was a good read.  It seemed to be well edited; I didn’t notice any mistakes.  The reader should be aware that this book has some anal and spanking and mild bondage, don’t forget the hot sex.  Fans of erotic romance will like this one.
