How many times has an innovative idea entered our minds when we were in the middle of something and felt there has got to be an easier way?  Or, how many times have we thought of an idea but pondered too long only to find out someone else developed the product?  Many, I’m sure.

Richard Edward Rowe, President of an intellectual property development and consulting firm, has some ideas for us to ponder and then take our ideas to the next level in his book “Changing the World One Invention at a Time: Acting on Your Ideas Using the Creatively Inventing Framework.”  He stresses to take your idea and start thinking deeper. As well, start asking questions.  And, before long your idea will be developed to the point of experimentation.  Then of course there are implementation steps after that.

Since I’m a reader that needs examples I was enthralled with how Rowe wrote this book.  Not only does he give examples of inventions but how the product was developed.  From this step-by-step method the reader can develop their own protocol for his or her product.

Of special interest to me was the section when Rowe talked about disclosures and patent application.  I became very clear on the timeliness, how to start the patent process as well as how to obtain a patent. Rowe takes the mystery out and gives very comprehensible information that any lay person can use.

I specifically liked Rowe’s writing style.  It is concise, to the point, yet it is very thorough.  In the synopsis on the back of the book it says “The ultimate goal is to get you excited about your ideas and to motivate you to tap into the steady stream of ideas flowing around you. More importantly, this book is for those of us who have asked ourselves the question: ‘What do I do with this idea I have?’”  I can attest that after reading “Changing the World One Invention at a Time: Acting on Your Ideas Using the Creatively Inventing Framework” I know what to do with my ideas.
