Brian Samo Ross begins this book by sharing how it was conceived.  He awoke feeling restless and irritated.  He heard the Voice in his head, a voice that he knew spoke in different pattern from his way of speaking.  “The Voice I am speaking about here is as quiet as a whisper.”  To Mr. Ross who the Voice is does not matter, what the voice says is important.  He wanted to share the message, hence the book “Talking to God without Calling Long Distance.”

The Voice offers Mr. Ross gifts in the form of messages.  You are a part of everything, earth, fire, air and water.  “You are nature.”  Return to your natural self, you can enjoy and experience other realms and planets. “The you that is you will not and cannot, die.”

Mr. Ross shows great insight when he explains the biblical reference, “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to pass through the gates of Heaven.”  He states that it is not the riches that doom man but the refusal to let go of them.  “You spend your youth chasing after money and the rest of your life hanging on to it.  Then you die.”

The views this book offers on marriage are very different from my experience.  “Marriage, as it is today, is a substitute for that which most of seek.  You seek union with yourself.”  The gist of this book is to look inside yourself, come to terms with yourself, and the path to God lies inside you.

Brian Samo Ross is a very talented writer.  I am left with the impression that Mr. Ross purports reincarnation.  He speaks of different lives.  I found this book to be New Age.  While I strongly disagree with his beliefs I must compliment him on his extreme talent.  The cover of this book is intriguing and speaks of what lies inside.  He print is a very nice size.  In recommend “Talking to God without Calling Long Distance” to those that are looking for New Age spirituality.
