The Rest of Your Life: Finding Repose in the Beloved (with CD)
Ironically enough this title can mean two things – rest being what will eventually happen to you if you continue to live in the past and future and rest being taking time out to smell the roses and get in tune with yourself. The authors have given readers the opportunity to learn more about themselves, what is truly important to them, and most of all, learn to love and live life unconditionally. While reading this book, I could feel the authors’ voices so calm and serene that they put me immediately at ease. I could actually listen to my breathing and feel like I had stepped into another space. The guidance, exercises and thoughts give one the chance to reflect on life and where they are going. So many times in our lives we are going at such a fast pace and trying to accomplish everything we don’t take the time to rest our souls. Each small chapter gives real-life examples of how we let others control our feelings, or get stuck in the past. We spend so much time on these things that we are mentally and emotionally exhausted. When others strike out at us, the authors say that they don’t love themselves. We don’t have to go through life letting negative things happen to us- but we do let them happen. That’s not to say we will never encounter setbacks or negative things in our life, but we need to deal with them in a different way. There is a wonderful CD that comes with the book that includes breathing exercises, meditations and relaxation steps. I don’t think anyone should miss this book, “The Rest of Your Life” by John-Roger and Paul Kaye.. It is a chance to make a big difference in your life and the life of others. If you take each section as you read and put the information into practice, you will find that it isn’t so crazy out in our world.
