What a beautiful book! When I received the book to review I was enamored by the beauty of the box it was in, and after taking it out, the feel of the cover was very feminine.  Both set the tone for what “Wisdom for Women” is like inside.  Rachel Quillin compiled short narratives, short prayers, and an appropriate passage for each day. As well, the page has lines where one can journal their thoughts.

For example, the passage for Day 139 is from Luke 10:38-40: “A woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word.  But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Tell her to help me.’”

The title of the page is “Martha and Mary” with a narrative that starts out “Isn’t this just how we feel when the men in our household excuse themselves from the table as soon as the first dirty dish appears?”  The narrative continues to say what Mary “really desired was a release from her compulsive neatness.”  Encouragement to know the Christ and put pressures of life into perspective is the key to the message for the day with the prayer “Lord, I pray for peace today from my busy schedule so I may learn at Your knee.”

Lovely, feminine and inspirational, “Wisdom for Women” by Rachel Quillin is a treasure any Christian woman would appreciate and cherish.
