Derek loves being a werewolf, a leader of his pack, but, something has happened to him and he can no longer “change” into the roving wolf that he likes to be. Someone has it out for him. Someone has put a curse, or spell, on him that will not allow him to change. What is he going to do? How can he find who has done this to him? He has his suspicions though…

His first thought is that he has to do some research and find out what kind of a curse, or spell, has put him in this predicament. Once he finds that out, then maybe, hopefully, he can do something about it. In order to do his research properly, he decides to go to the local magic shop and see what books he can find. He can’t let any mere human know that he is a werewolf, so, he pretends that he is an author writing a horror story about werewolves. As he enters the magic shop, he meets a woman behind the counter named Liz, and she seems eager enough to believe that he is an author needing some research help for his book.

Liz is a solitary practicing Wiccan witch, who hasn’t practiced all that much, but, finds out that her powers for good over evil are stronger than she had ever imagined. For most of the book, Liz is naive to the fact that Derek is an alpha werewolf who is trying to get his status of leader of pack back in order. But, as the story moves on, the strength and support of Liz comes to light.

Derek and Liz find that they have much in common, they are both lonely and desperately in a search for something, or someone, who can help them each be…more of whom they are meant to be. They eventually find out that who and what they have been looking for just might be in the powers of each other.

“Waxing” starts out as a slow moving book, but, about half way through, it starts to pick up the pace and keeps you intrigued and anxious to find out what happens next. If you are looking for a mysterious supernatural love story, with lots of twists and turns, and just the right amount of suspense, this is your book! I truly enjoyed the plot, action, suspense, attraction between the characters, and especially the ending!
