If the first page of the book starts you off laughing, you know you're in for a great ride. Author Jane Porter somehow hits the nail right on the head as she puts the main character, Jackie Laurens, into the real world. Surrounded with the not-so-perfect factors in life; divorce, kids, single motherhood and married friends, Porter gives a candid and often hilariously true view of how life really is for many women as the world they once knew suddenly is no longer theirs.

As Jackie Laurens is approaching forty she's faced with a whole new world with whole new decisions. She realizes that her 'old world' no longer exists. The world of husbands, family gatherings, and companionship is gone. But is that really so bad? What if she just started enjoying life instead of existing in it? Are those friends she thought were her best friends really as happy as they seem to be or is it all just a front and they're settling for what they have?

As mid-life hits her smack in the face, she realizes that perhaps it's not really the life she deserves and she should make some changes. But what will her friends think of the new her? Will they accept her without hesitation or will she suddenly become the outcast? And if they can't seem to understand her new needs and desires, is it because she's wrong or because they're so unhappy? Is it wrong to enjoy youth again at forty? Can a younger man help her enjoy it all even more?

A great book that takes a look at what the real world is for many divorced, single moms with a touch of humor and understanding that only a true single mom and divorcee' could talk about.
