A Miami native, Ariana returns for her great aunt’s funeral after living in Boston for the last five years. A recent break-up with her boyfriend has left her in a contemplative mood, and she yearns for the perfect relationship. She is tired of compromising what she wants to fit someone else’s expectations. Upon arrival at the funeral home she is suddenly very aware of a man she does not know watching her from the doorway. He moves away before she reaches the entrance.

Later when the necessities of a Cuban-American family funeral have been observed, Ariana, or Ani as she is known to her family, slips out to grab a coffee. The mysterious stranger is in the coffee bar and they strike up a conversation that leads to the promise of meeting later that evening to check out an art exhibit. Art is a shared passion between the couple, and Ani is very attracted to John.

That afternoon after attending a feast to celebrate her great aunt’s ascent into Paradise, Ani longs for a hot shower but is distracted by the key to her rental car breaking off in the ignition, with the car running. She locates a local locksmith shop which is currently being run by a cop named Eric, who is currently on suspension. After making her a new key, Eric leads her to the back room where he takes her roughly in a way she has never had sex before and discovers it really turns her on.

Ani leaves Eric and proceeds to meet John. She is feeling the heat in more ways than one and John takes her to the back to quench her fire. She discovers a sexual side of herself she never knew existed. She loves John but she wants Eric--bad!

Ani continues her relationship with both men and John introduces her to Manuel who provides additional stimulating adventures and sexual games more pleasurable then she could ever imagine.  Then John finds out about Eric, but instead of being angry; insists on Ali inviting Eric to join the party.

Hot and steamy refers to more than just the Miami weather in this erotic novel, “Faith in the Flesh” 'by Maria Isabel Pita.  This author definitely knows how to tie up her reader and give them what they want. If you enjoy SMBD reads, this one’s for you.
