“God won’t judge us by what we share with Him and He loves us no matter what!” This is the truth Angela J. Perez conveys in her “Christian Prayer Journal & Praise Report.” She discusses the importance of prayer for Christians and says that rather than merely praying verbally or from our hearts, we should also be writing down our prayers and the ways they have been answered. Perez says she developed the prayer journal and praise report to help other Christians grow in faith and character.

The majority of the pages in the book are waiting to be filled. On the prayer journal pages, you are expected to write down the needs you are taking to the Lord in prayer. Once they have been answered, Perez asks you to record the date and specific examples on the praise report pages. By following these steps, as well as recording the Scriptures that are relevant to your prayers, Perez says this book will serve as a reminder when you struggle with your faith of the power the Lord has displayed in your life.

Perez also encourages people to share their journal entries and results with others to testify about the power of prayer. For those who actually put the journal into use, I believe it would be a beneficial, eye-opening experience that would deepen their faith and commitment. However, I think a lot of people would not be willing to take the time to articulate their prayers in written form on a regular basis and then follow up on how they have been answered. For those people, I wouldn’t say the book is of no use, since there is still a lot of substance in the first 25 pages where Perez outlines Scripture references to stand on, how to pray, the components of prayer and the value of prayer. She says there are three steps to a holistic prayer approach: prayer by modeling, prayer by appointment and prayer by perseverance. She uses Biblical passages to convey her points and simplifies and dissects the manner in which our Lord and Savior prayed while He walked this Earth with us.

Prayer is an integral part of the Christian faith, which must be practiced in order to maintain a personal relationship with God. It is important not to become complacent in our prayer life, only turning to God in times of deep distress or for selfish purposes. By keeping a prayer journal and praise report, as laid out in “Christian Prayer Journal & Praise Report,” we can enhance our communication with God and fellow Christians.
