“A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.
The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. (Proverbs 22:3 NLT)”

That was one of my favorite passages in the book.

Deborah Pegues has a winner here with the way she presents her new book. Combining and comparing the financial problems we are having in our country and the world, with passages from the Bible. Ms. Pegues draws on all her expertise as a CPA, Bible Teacher and Certified Behavioral Consultant in the writing of this very informative volume.

Starting with an explanation of the financial crisis, she touches on such things as “Sub Prime Lending and Mortgage Backed Securities.” She tells of people that could not afford the house they wanted to buy and would alter the truth in order to get the loan. Then she explains how the finance company twists things around to help them keep their house and dips them deeper, without their knowledge.

Deborah gives the reader a set of “Ten Strategies for Navigating Financial Uncertainty.” This set of rules help to set you on the right road, with her in-depth teachings of how to deal with spending - how to asses your own situation, control spending habits, plan for your future and many more areas. Then the last one is learning to be content with these new changes.

Ms. Pegues’ suggests ways to cope psychologically with these difficult financial times by examining things like meditation. She suggests having a support base and not going through this crisis alone. Along with that she stresses turning to God and asking for his help.

I enjoyed “Financial Survival in Uncertain Times,” by Deborah Smith Pegues; the writing was knowledgeable and concise.  Ms. Pegues did a fine job in comparing many of the events to their Biblical counterparts. With the addition of its many appendices that will help you figure expenses, budget and so many more things, you will want to hang on to it even after reading. Quality crafted with a nice graphic cover, I gave it an A and would recommend it to everyone in America.
