Three Good Things: Happiness Everyday, No Matter What! This is the perfect book for the pessimist in your life! Erika K. Oliver refers to herself as a “reformed pessimist.” She calls on her experiences to lead readers to an adjusted perception of life. Having lived with pessimists all of my life and being a born optimist, I’m tempted to buy out the publisher of this book so that I can reform my whole family. We go through life thinking we’re not pretty enough, slim enough or smart enough. We apply labels to ourselves. “Good and bad are subjective labels and usually intertwined.” “I’ve decided that I need a soundtrack for my life to help me distinguish ‘good’ from ‘bad.’” Good and bad are an outlook. “If you believe that ‘it’s all good,’ then, good will come, even if it’s in the form of a tough lesson learned.” Most of us dread birthdays, especially after we reach a certain age. Ms. Oliver chooses to see hers as good “because on that day I am the youngest I will be all year.” “Tight clothes are a gift; they help me pay attention to what I am eating and how much I am exercising to maintain good health.” Ms. Oliver uses insight and humor as she step-by-step reforms pessimists. Her teaching skills shine through in this book. She educates a step at a time, slowly and brilliantly walking the reader through a change in attitude. I highly recommend “Three Good Things: Happiness Everyday, No Matter What!” to everyone for one time or another we need a change in attitude! |
