The Field of Being: Collected Thoughts on the Evolution of Human Consciousness
In “The Field of Being,” the author relates that now is the time for us to change our thoughts and attitudes before the negativism takes over totally. We have lived in a world where we only focus on ourselves, take advantage of others and live in a stalemate. He begins talking about the metamorphous of our universe and peoples and current beliefs on how we see the world and those around us. Nix introduces us to the Field of Consciousness- where he addresses the change in not exploiting others for our gain and where we begin, or should begin, to become aware of the world around us and those that we come in contact with. In the chapter “The Holding,” the author discusses how our environment shapes who we become, somewhat similar to the nature vs. nurture argument. Since we can’t have a positive environment all the time based on our demands, we store our experiences in our psyche, which leads our expectations of the world around us. When looking at balance in our lives, we must look at those things that keep us healthy (or not) and look outside the box for substances that we have not even researched. Instead of being angry and blaming the world on our problems, we should look at the positives it has given and can give. Although I found “The Field of Being” by Don C. Nix to be quite informative, I did feel the language and terminology might be over the average readers head. I would have preferred it to be in simpler language- as the author states “This book will appeal to those looking for spiritual depth, meaning and direction in the tumult of modern life.”
