Jesus…Author of My Life: Hope for Terminal Illness
Influenced by demonic power and evil her husband became intimidating, decadent and domineering, as well as verbally and emotionally abusive. To counteract his oppression and deceit Stellah sought to find refuge in the faith of her childhood. Prayer and Bible study filled her life with hope and promise. She tells of an empowerment by the Holy Spirit which gave new purpose to her life. Throughout her story Mupanduki uses a well-balanced combination of scriptural teaching, revelation gained from her own study, personal experiences, and stories of miracles of healing she witnessed through her “spiritual gift of healing.” She tells of seeing disease being bound and conquered. A chapter of the book discusses signs and symbols revealed to Stellah to help the reader understand the basic tenants of the Christian faith. She speaks of “spiritual warfare” and the nightmare of being confronted by the confusing deceit of Lucifer. Although there is a strong natural flow to Stellah’s writing, the timeline is cloudy as a result of the topical approach used to develop the story. She would have benefited from a more thorough editing of her work. I was frequently distracted by fragmented sentences, the wrong choice of verb tenses, word choice, and other road blocks to smooth reading. However, this said, the strength of the message was not compromised. “Jesus…Author of my Life” will affirm those readers of the faith community who have witnessed or experienced Holy Spirit anointing, miraculous healing, prophetic dreams, or personal revelations. There will be those pursuing the more traditional teaching of the church that will question Mupanduki’s credibility. Others will be challenged to rethink the foundation of their faith and the power of God as they seek hope for their own healing from a terminal illness or that of a loved one. It is Stellah’s prayer and purpose for writing “Jesus…Author of My Life” that the reader will come to know the same power of the Holy Spirit and the hope for healing from terminal illness that she has experienced. |
