The Amazing, Incredible, Colossal, Bikini-Crazed Creature from the Public Domain
Dr. Guy Fabian is a funny character that I would liken to Inspector Clouseau. His humor is as exciting as the “Pink Panther” movies. By the time the reader is on page two, he is already chuckling. I say that because we are not talking a full blown laugh here but more like a light hearted, “hee hee.” Even when Guy meets the pretty Dr. Hellen Haversham and is trying to score points, he still comes off as a bumbling oaf. He has the hots for Hellen but she is true to her science and continues to put him off. The daring duo assist another scientist in the performance of an experiment and it turns to disaster. They try to help him out of the dilemma and just make matters worse. As the story goes on, the poor scientist whose experiment backfired, Dr. Zyclops runs off and terrorizes the town. He mutates into a myriad of different shapes and sizes and causes havoc throughout the land. His antics cause the Army to come out and chase him and before they can track him down and kill him, he is saved by Guy and Hellen. They bring him back to normal and all is good. Guy and Hellen are driving along and Hellen keeps bringing up marriage. It must have upset Guy because he drives off a cliff. The conclusion is a nice twist to the story and one that will give the reader a jolt. “The Amazing, Incredible, Colossal, Bikini-Crazed Creature from the Public Domain” by E. Mitchell was a humorous read. It would make a great movie or stage play and I think that’s where the quick wit and the puns would really shine through. I would not classify it a general audience book for the simple reason that there are some adult insinuations. I gave it the good grade of a B and think that the humor is there. |
