“My tongue is smiling,” a comment made a four year old after eating a cookie, was the inspiration for Penny McConnell and Kathy Sutton to compile Cookie Stories. Their creation not only is full of delicious cookie recipes, but it also contains short stories relating to cookies.

And, there are suggestions. For example, Penny suggests: When the timing is right there’s nothing better than a warm plate of cookies to set a romantic mood. Close your eyes for a minute and imagine a cold winter’s night... warm and cozy... freshly baked cookies…

A writer laments: I love to have cookies when it is raining and I am on the inside, toasty warm, and looking out. This is truly a throwback to my childhood. Another says: If my memory serves my correctly, we either made the cookie dough in the sink or in a pickle bucket.

If you are a reader of recipe books, like I am, you will find Cookie Stories hard to put down. The stories are short, inspiring, and funny. The cookie recipes sound wonderful, many shared by Penny, the author, of Penny’s Pastries. Imagine… Chocolate Chip Indulgence, Peanut Butter Obsession, All-American Brownies, Oatmeal Fudge Bars – Yummm!
