Keith Lognion’s book is only 57 pages but holds as much impact as a book with triple the pages.  Lognion gets right to the point of his experience of physical and emotional abuse by his father, his stint on the streets being homeless, and his occurrence of being a drug dealer.  During his young life Lognion also faced losing a career as a boxer as well as spending considerable time in prison.

During his incarceration Lognion had an awakening and realized he was given another chance by God. Following the guidance, Lognion researched how to establish a non-profit organization, ultimately creating one for homeless people.  He named it Second Chance.

Lognion’s writing is simple and the voice is as though he is physically talking to the reader when he tells his story.  The only drawback for this reader was the dire need of editing.  The editing issues disturbed the flow of the story.  I had to stop many times on each page because of the run-on sentences/typos and not really knowing what I had just read.  I truly believe, being this topic is of such important nature, that this book warrants a professional editor before the next printing.

“From Helpless to Homeless to Happiness” by Keith Lognion is just that; one man’s story that started out in an abusive home to something good coming out it.  The people that benefit from the Second Chance are grateful for the opportunity to have the second chance, as did Lognion.  His story is an inspiration and could be used as an educational tool in prisons as well as young boy’s and men’s treatment facilities.
