Angels on Call: Inspiring True Stories from the ER
Dr. Robert Lesslie has given readers the opportunity to see what really goes on in the emergency room (ER). These are very heartwarming stories about individuals who visit the ER in Rock Hill, SC. Never before have I seen such dedication and sincerity in a medical staff. Even with patients who had terminal illnesses or were on the brink of death- their attitudes were positive. Each person in this book has unique skills and personalities. One of the things Dr. Lesslie says is “In ER we take what we do seriously. But in order to survive in ER, you have to never take yourself seriously.” Sometimes individuals who come into ER never say thank-you, but I believe Dr. Lesslie and his staff knew they appreciated everything they did. One story that stuck in my mind was about Danny Miller. Danny had many problems to include Cerebral Palsy, which made it difficult for him to communicate. With the required care that Danny needed, his family decided to put him in a group home and moved to Tennessee. After disappearing for a while, Danny landed back in ER. Everyone tried to communicate with Danny to find out where he hurt, and the only one that could actually understand him was Dr. Lesslie’s son. Danny knew what was hurting and finally he was able to get the help he needed. These stories in “Angels on Call” are written with passion and love. Dr. Lesslie writes with clarity and enthusiasm. His stories will make you cry, laugh and keep you on the edge of your seat. |
