When Allison Browne is murdered, American arts and antiquities dealer Mike Andrews becomes the lead suspect. Mike was one of her closest friends and admits to having been one of the last people to be seen with her. Devastated over her death yet desperate to protect his private life, Mike does not give the police the information that they need to prove his innocence, so he goes to jail for several months. When he is released after a mistrial is declared, police detective Alex Barone is put on the case to follow him so that he can find evidence to prove his guilt. Since Mike searches for antique treasures all over the world, Alex finds himself following him to some pretty far off, exotic places, like Morocco. While he is doing so, he notices that someone else is also following Mike.
Realizing that he has to be honest with Mike about who he is so that he can help protect him, the two men develop a friendship. As Alex gets to know Mike he also believes his innocence, yet he cannot figure out why Mike is being followed. When it appears that Mike’s life is in danger, both men have to resort to extreme measures to survive.
Once I started reading “Tomorrow’s Headlines” I quickly found myself hooked on the suspenseful story. Not only are the characters realistic, but the good guys are also genuinely likable, so I found myself rooting for them. Their loyalty to the people that they love is highly commendable and somewhat rare. The unusual locales that the two traveled to also helped create a great backdrop for the adventure. I also enjoyed that this book contains suspense, adventure, mystery and romance. It has all the elements that I believe one looks for in an exceptional novel. I highly recommend “Tomorrow’s Headline.” Readers are sure to enjoy discovering author D.E. LeFever’s writing talent!
