We first meet Vanessa when her husband and children have left, leaving her with an empty house and a fairly low self-outlook.  She has a nosy-but-good-natured neighbor (Dora), a potential suitor-but-more-like-friend (Henry), and a self-improvement-reciting-friend (Lisette).  All of these folks have Vanessa’s best interest at heart, but yet... she seeks something more.  Vanessa decides to take a tour of the South Island, and while there meets mysterious, sexy Nigel, who sweeps her off her feet and changes her outlook on the past and the future.  Will she ever look at her life the same again?

That’s the question that lures us through the novel “Progressions” by Judy Lawn.  Women of all ages will likely find something in “Progressions” to intrigue them.  Any women that has experienced a similar fate as the heroine Vanessa will especially be able to understand the characters struggles with herself, while also appreciate the author’s positive approach in leading her main character through the harder times in life without giving up – thereby finding true happiness that she wouldn’t have found without the struggle.  A lesson for us all.

“Progressions” is a fun, light read that will keep readers entertained with quick prose, likeable characters, and romantic events.  The chapters are short and easy to absorb, making this a perfect read for a day at the beach or before bed.
