“The Girls” is a look at the life and times of a pair of conjoined twins, connected at the head, from their unique perspectives.  Though they have lived every second of their extraordinary lives together, it is clear, through alternating narration, they are individuals gathering in experience through separate filters.

The author, Lori Lansens, does such a spectacular job writing through the eyes of the girls it is easy to forget you’re reading a novel and not a couple of journals.  Her humanity and understanding bring Rose and Rudy Darlen, as well as their Aunt Lovey and Uncle Stash, right into your heart with warm welcome.  This isn’t a story about the trials and tribulations in the lives of conjoined twins, though always a factor; it is a story about living the life you have to the fullest regardless of circumstance.

“The Girls” is an excellent read most any reader will enjoy.  One warning for youngsters and their parents: there is some sexual content though handled with taste and moderation offering true consequence and real feelings.

This is one of those books you won’t want to put down and will want to share with friends the moment you finish.  It is a tender, unforgettable read that will imbed itself in your consciousness heightening your compassion for everyone in our world, including yoursel
