Make Mine a Bad Boy (A Deep in the Heart of Texas novel)Katie Lane
Hope Scroggs is the sweetheart of Bramble, Texas. After leaving for five years, to pursue her Hollywood dream, Hope returns to Bramble with the intention of marrying her high-school sweetheart, Slate Calhoun. Slate, the handsome quarterback of Bramble, is now the high-school football coach. What Hope doesn’t expect is to find her man marrying someone else. Devastated to find out her back-up plan is shattered, Hope is left to give the performance of a lifetime by acting like the sweetheart of Bramble everyone expects her to be. To make matters worse, a rumor has been started that has the town’s private investigator bringing back men from Hope’s past. If you think things couldn’t get worse, think again. Hope soon finds herself forced to deal with Colt Lomax, the bad boy of Bramble, and her heart’s one true guilty pleasure. Colt Lomax, the bad boy of Bramble, is back in town after spending years away. Colt, who raised his younger sister while trying to keep his mother’s drunken state from the town, couldn’t wait to leave Bramble and its memories behind - especially since he’d always had a thing for Hope, who only has eyes for Slate. After coming to terms with his fate, Colt leaves Bramble and its residents, who believe he has been in prison. When Colt’s hot temper lands him back in Bramble and locked behind bars, it’s suddenly apparent his past is about to become part of his future, leaving him hopeless of ever escaping Bramble again. Soon this freedom thriving bad boy is finding himself hopelessly attached to Bramble and one feisty Texas sweetheart. Combine a feisty Texas sweetheart with a town’s glorified bad boy and sparks are sure to fly. This book is full of colorful and well-developed characters. The story is equipped with small town charms, Texas accents, cowboy hunks, town gossips and, of course, football. I don’t believe Ms. Lane could have presented the Texas town any better! Everything from trailer park treasure to big money luxury is in this delightful romance. “Make Mine a Bad Boy” was a pleasure to read. I couldn’t stop reading it. The love scenes, though minimal, are well executed. Ms. Lane teased and prodded which left me waiting for more! I found myself laughing, cringing and, in the end, ready to find my own bad boy to charm. It was a great romance and I highly suggest it. |
