There are many books out there that will tell you how to find your way to God; however, the author has written a book that only gives information for one to think about. He does not tell you how to do it.

Mr. Johnston gives his personal account of his own spiritual journey. He also discusses why people who love God are prone to suffer. In this section, he relates that we must take responsibility for our actions, and shouldn’t blame others or God. By our own selflessness we are vulnerable to pain and suffering, this in turn leads us to take action either by having a change of heart and changing our behaviors or continue on the same destructive path.

An interesting point the author made got me to really take stock of my beliefs.  He relates that our desire for heaven is self-centered. It isn’t until we actually give ourselves totally to the Lord, will we really see the path to heaven. Another point he made that made quite a bit of sense- God doesn’t require us to get to a certain level of spirituality before we become Christian.

I found “The Way: The Spiritual Journey” by Robert H. Johnston to be quite an interesting read; it certainly is not a book readers can just breeze through. The language is sometimes difficult to read, so readers would need to do it a little at a time and process what they have read.
