Nurse Julie Taylor has been lusting after her cop-friend Roger Decker. She finally gets a date with him. Unfortunately, the night before, she is attacked by a rogue vampire named Luke and turned into one of them. Luke is one of hundreds of vampires who fled to Houston after Hurricane Katrina. Most of them live peacefully and privately. After a good day’s sleep, Julie still manages to go on her date with Roger. While Julie is on the date, Bob Marley, a vampire hunter, shows up and tries to kill her. This ends their dinner early. As they make a quick exit, Luke attacks Roger and tries to claim Julie for himself.
In spite of these events, they manage to engage in some awesome erotic moments involving whipped cream.
When Luke attacks and kills Julie’s best friend Kim, Julie has to turn her into a vampire to save her. Roger sees this and learns that he is head over heels for a vampire. This is upsetting to him because he felt she should have told him, and realizing that he had sex with a vampire is a turn off. He still can’t get her out of his head. When she disappears, he realizes the depth of his feelings for her.
“Sex, Lies, and Vampire Hunters,” is really a fun story to read. Myla Jackson does an excellent job of incorporating humor, drama, eroticism, and the supernatural elements into a great plot. The chemistry between Julie and Roger screams its way across the pages which, causes you to read the story even faster so that you can get to the parts about where they fall for each other. Adding the dilemma of her change into a vampire makes for an interesting conflict between the two. Her friends, including a vampire neighbor add more depth to the plot, especially when she has to turn one of them into a vampire to save her. Fortunately, this friend was already into the goth look!
Enjoy this fun story!
