Adorned with beautifully colored pages and whimsical design, “White Silk, Dark Chocolate, and a Little Bit of Magic” is written to help women discover that “Life is good, and we are good in it.” The book tackles women as wonderful, strong beings, throughout all aspects and points of our lives. With attention to detail and characteristics the author draws her inspiration from women of all ages, races, cultures and styles, realizing that our dreams may or may not be fulfilled, life may or may not have treated us fair, yet we still prevail. We have “Our strength, our spirit, our will and our direction.” She brings forth the ideals of women from our souls to our indulgent pleasures. She knows and understands the struggles women face simply because we are women. She makes sure to point out our strengths within our struggles. Through it all, our spirits, our bodies, our relationships, our careers, our past times, the author celebrates women.

Adapted from the author’s book “The Blackberry Tea Club,” it is a work of fiction made into a gift giving excerpt. The book is primarily meant for gift giving one woman to another. I would highly suggest reading this book quickly or glancing at it before buying. It is not a book for everyone. It is geared more towards women in need of courage or a self-esteem boost. It would be best enjoyed by women who are looking for encouragement, or going through a rough patch. It directly tackles the amazing qualities of women and the power we possess.

“White Silk, Dark Chocolate, and a Little Bit of Magic” is beautifully made with rainbow pages that are bright yet subtle in nature. It is soothing to read and would be perfect on a rainy day. The price is a little steep for a book of its size and purpose. I feel I would rather spend the money on a three-hundred-plus page novel than a book that would sit on the coffee table and only take a few moments to read. Overall, given the right audience the book can have an impact and is visually pleasing and enjoyable.
