“Twice the Love,” completed and edited by Susan M. Heim, is filled with humorous and inspiring antecedents. Parents longing to share their special tales of living with multiples share their narratives with readers.
I laugh, cry, and have my heartstrings tugged each time I read the funny, poignant, joyful, sad and loving stories about each family s miracle multiples. Susan M. Heim, the mother of twins, selected a cross-section of stories sent to “Twins Magazine” over the years.
One mother shared her adventures in potty training her twin sons. She took the boys to the mall, where, of course, they had to go, now. The boys hadn’t developed a sense of direction. The brown leather shoes of the woman in the next stall will never be the same. Charlene Henderson recalls people repeatedly saying to her, better you than me. As the mother of twin sons, I agree with her, better me than you! My hands are full holding my heart inside my chest because it swells with pride for these two small beings. In “How Lucky I,” Katie Tatton shares “when we discovered we were having twins it was a miracle. Even if I never could have another baby, I would now have three children. I was ecstatic. I vowed I’d never forget how lucky I am to be the mother of twins.”
“Twice the Love” is a delightful look at parenting twins. They are sometimes funny, always touching. This wonderful book brought back marvelous memories of raising my twin sons. The cover is a little busy, but the photograph is charming. The printing is rather small. Altogether this is a pleasant read that will bring smiles to the faces of many parents.
