“A Hint of Wicked” is the story of a love triangle between Garrett, Sophie, and Tristan. The three grew up together as friends. Garrett and Sophie later married while Tristan married another woman. The three remained friends until Garrett went to fight in Waterloo. When Garrett disappeared while fighting at Waterloo, Sophie grieved for seven years for his death. Tristan’s wife died while giving birth. Sophie and Tristan eventually married. Even though she was married to Tristan, Sophie was still grieving for her dead husband.

While in the middle of making love, Sophie and Tristan are interrupted by Garrett’s return from the dead. This leaves Sophie torn between her first love and current love. She loves both men but for different reasons and refuses to choose between the two. Garrett is angry with her for not waiting for his return and wants to reclaim his property. Tristan refuses to give his wife to Garrett and fights to keep her. Garrett and Tristan who used to be friends become enemies. The story continues with the fight between Garrett and Tristan over Sophie. Garrett is also surprised to find out that he and Sophie have a daughter, Miranda. Miranda seems to be the only person who can bring a smile to Garrett’s face.

The book is well written with well-developed characters. The reader is easily caught up in the love triangle. The reader feels sympathy for Sophie, who is torn between her two husbands and Tristan who is fighting to keep the wife he loves. I didn’t really like the character Garrett who seems like a bully, but he was a great character for the story.

Anyone who likes a good love story will love “A Hint of Wicked” by Jennifer Haymore. The story draws the reader in. The reader will not be able to wait to see who Sophie ends up with at the end.
