All 339 pages of “The History Book” are action-packed.  Kat comes from a family of altruistic, free-thinking leaders.  Her father worked on a national level to ensure proper treatment of immigrants.  Her mother supported the agenda, though she really did not love her husband.

Kat’s sister was a lawyer who fought against the Peace Project.  Kat, a career criminal, ends up finishing her sister’s job while she determines how her sister was killed.

The Peace Project ensured peace through a police state.  Everything is monitored; there are cameras everywhere.  Security checks traffic routinely with hand and iris scanners.  There is a national identity card.  The internet is monitored with incredible reaction time.  The Peace Project that guaranteed freedom from wars essentially became a threat within itself.

Kat fights for life, for her sister’s cause, and for her parents’ cause through the entire book.  There is no fluff in “The History Book.”  “The History Book” is a story of eerily plausible terrorism that was planned to fight terrorism.

Hawksley is a brilliant writer.  Any reader who loves a riveting action-packed book will love “The History Book.”  Read and recommend it to your friends.
