Livia Hallam and James Reasoner, writing as a husband and wife team, reside in Azle, Texas. Livia expresses her knowledge gained as a historical researcher in this fictional, romantic novel of civil war occurrences. From life at sea in the Bahamas during 1861, to the shorelines of home in South Carolina, Allard Tyler returns to his love. Choosing to marry Diana and pursue the ship business his Father began. Allard ponders if he’ll be satisfied without the excitement he found at sea. His dream of returning to sea is given a second chance. Meanwhile, a secret agreement is formed between Robert and Cam.. To save the family’s reputation and honor, Robert marries Lucinda. He not only is not in love with her, but can barely tolerate her presence. On the battlefield he desires to die or return to his only love. This union of marriage causes his first and expressed love, Jacqueline, to shun him. Her Mother threatens to have him beaten to prevent his seeing her daughter. A new life is born, not only to an infant but the man it calls Father. With a stunning turn of events, Robert returns to Jacqueline, risking life and honor to explain his erratic actions. In a state of wait, the women who love the men on the battlefield await their return. On land, guns and swords wound, maim and kill their loved ones. At sea, the battle rages between the pirates and the soldiers. This war zone carries onto land where attacks in the deep on the night occur. Bloodshed and grief are the order of the times. This book is intended for the general reader. The authors write with much expression in regards to the characters and settings. I would highly recommend reading this novel. Deception, love, lust and loyalty abound. From the battlefields to the seas, “War Drums” keeps the reader in suspense as to who will win the personal and national battles being waged. This novel will entrance you with the suspense and action in pursuit of honor, love and country. |
