“Blind Temptations” is a fascinating tale by Lesley Hal.  The plot tells the saga of three women.  The three friends have much in common: retribution, deceit, and desire to be loved.

Chante has recently been appointed the first, black, female regional director of Kingdom Bank.  Chante’s life seemed perfect, perfect job, perfect family, perfect friends and perfect husband.  All perfect until she discovered that her husband, Alex,  was having an affair.  Alex deeply loved Chante but couldn’t seem to be faithful. “I love Chante with all my heart, Charles.”  But love didn’t stop his wondering eye.

Karissa’s mother is domineering and controlling.  Karissa allows her to have power to make her life miserable.  Her mother has always been physically and emotionally abusive, even in Karissa’s adult life.  But that doesn’t stop Karissa from craving her mother’s approval.  Andre is her prince charming.  He wants her to be his wife.  Will Karissa allow her mother to destroy their love?

Michelle thinks she’s in love with Brandon.  He’s a player.  She never questions why he was in a car with a woman nine-months pregnant.  Brandon is always forgetting his “card” and ordering expensive things on Michelle’s.  He was no good and when he wasn’t around she knew it.  But the minute he stepped into a room she would melt.  When Brandon thinks Michelle is interested in someone else he becomes physically abusive.

“Blind Temptations” by Lesley Hal is well written.  She is obviously an extremely talented author.  The plot was very good, however I found it difficult to relate to the slang language Ms Hal employed in her story.  The characters were well developed.  I found myself wanting to shout at Michelle, “He’s no good for you!”  I wanted to tell Karissa that she’s an adult and that some people never acquire the approval of his or her parent.  “Go on with your life!”  Michelle, Karissa and Chante seemed to come to life on the pages.  I enjoyed the depth of the characters.  Michelle and Karissa were my favorites.   I felt like I was getting to know them and becoming involved in their lives. These are women that a person could share things with and not worry about them being judgmental.   I recommend this book to those that enjoy a good romance with lots of drama thrown in.
