I am a believer that all things happen for a reason. Our family prefers to do the majority of our shopping from local community-owned shops but that is sometimes just not an option. As I was carting my way around the masses being overwhelmed with holiday paraphernalia at the mega-outlet, once again I thought of how we have the retail push earlier and earlier with the holiday “feel” for many going out the window. After arriving home, I grabbed a cup of tea and headed for our soft, comfy sofa and picked up “Engaging Father Christmas.” Within the first few beautiful green text pages my mood had changed into one of calmness and my reason for the headache of a shopping trip was to remind me of the real beauty of the holiday season, family.
As you sip your tea and snuggle by the fire, you are transported by train to beautiful Carlton Heath, England. Miranda Carson is planning to spend a tranquil holiday with the love of her life, Ian. Miranda soon finds out that you don’t always get what you want in the exact way you wanted it; but, with faith, life works itself out. With loads of European charm and whimsical romance, a bit of family “tiffing” and some really good shortbread Christmas cookies you will love to come back to “Engaging Father Christmas” year after year.
“Engaging Father Christmas” has made me a fan of Robin Jones Gunn and I hope to pick up a copy of “Finding Father Christmas.” These beautiful books will definitely be added to the shelf beside the fireplace for the entire family to read during the festive holiday season.
