"The Dragon's Lair" is a well written science fiction novel that would be enjoyed by adult sci-fi fans that like strong female characters. This is a dark story that takes place in outer space and on other planets. The scenes are well written and the characters are well developed so that the reader is able to sink into the story and feel more like she is watching it than reading it.

The heroine, Skye Dakota, runs a bar on a space station. Behind the scenes, she runs a smuggling operation. Adversaries from her past start manipulating her life. In desperation, Skye is forced to confront these demons from her past and those within herself. She leaves the Dragon's Lair to get help from friends and a lover, from another planet, from her pre-Dragon Lair days. She gets training and returns to a planet where she had been severely abused in her youth. Skye is captured and once again brutalized. To save herself, Skye has to go deep within herself and use the darkness that resides within to destroy her enemy. Skye has to take some extreme measures to save herself and to get some information that she needs.

Beyond just being a well written suspenseful story, the book also has an impact on the reader. As the story is being read, you start asking yourself, "How far would I go to save myself?" It is an eye opener if you realize that you would be willing to take the same measures that she did to survive. This book is highly recommended. The reviewer also respectfully recommends that author get started on writing a sequel, if she hasn't already done so!
