Angels All Around
The premise behind the book “Angels All Around” is that there are two forces in the universe - the angels and the Opposers (synonymous with demons). Every human embryo is supplied with an angelic host whose mission it is to bring the Creator’s plan to fruition. However, the Opposers try to distract the angels to prevent them from accomplishing their task and returning home to the Creator. In this story, Kenisha Brown and Michael Lindebloom have a special destiny to fulfill and the Opposers desperately need to disrupt it. Kenisha was born into a single-parent home and lived in a poor neighborhood. She worked hard to become a physical therapist at a Veterans Administration hospital. Her path first crosses Michael’s when he is admitted to the hospital to undergo rehabilitation for the injuries he received in combat. However, she is married and he is bitter and depressed, which keeps them apart. Ultimately, her dedication inspires him to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer, which one day puts him in the position to help her. “Angels All Around” is an excellent book. The author creatively explores the forces of good and evil. She provides information as to how those forces clashed as the Opposers tried to prevent both Kenisha and Michael from being born. The characters are well-developed and the reader can easily empathize with their plights. The ways the angels intervened in their lives are clearly displayed and it may lead people to reflect on unexpected moments from their own lives that could have been influenced by heavenly beings. “Angels All Around” would best be categorized as religious fiction. Topics such as unconditional faith without proof of the existence of a higher being, the importance of change and forgiveness, and whether or not divorce should ever be an option are at the forefront of the story. The book is targeted toward an adult female audience, but males will respond to its message too. My only complaint about the book was that the ramifications of Michael and Kenisha achieving their destiny were not specifically spelled out. I would like to know what the future brought beyond the point at which the story ended. |
