Significance Wilkins belongs to a book club that meets every Thursday evening.  The meetings might have been viewed “as a combination between a book club and a therapy group.” Significance Wilkins is success driven, a male magnet, young, talented and intense, but she questioned her place in the world, the reason she was born.  She does not believe in a higher power and is “unsure whether she is a member of the Atheists or if she belongs with the people in church giving testimonies about how many small pleasurable miracles happened for her on a constant basis?”  She struggles not to end up like her mother, brutally victimized.  It was not a coincidence that her mother named her Significance.

Sheila and Clarity are also members of the book club.  Shelia describes herself as “strong in her faith” and strongly dislikes Significance.  Clarity and Significance are friends and confidants.

A drunk driver hits Clarity critically injuring her.  While walking down the hall of the hospital Significance hears a song on the radio:

“You are Significant to me, just like you should be to you.
Don’t look back ‘cause I never, ever left you.
Look ahead look ahead ‘cause I’ll always love you.
Think of the Significance of who you are,
Who you are, who you are.”

The words lifted Significance’s Spirit.  It convinced her that God was with her and if God is with her perhaps Clarity will be okay.

This book is really the story of a journey, the journey to find faith in a higher power.  Sig finally comes to realize that this is what she’s been longing for all her life.

The cover of “Significance, the Pull” is enchanting and encourages the reader to delve inside.  The print is clear and easy to read.  The author is an excellent writer, bringing us unique characters that we care about.  I like this book and highly recommend.
