In "Showdown at Apache Gold," the author tells of a newly-released convict who plans to get revenge on his former cellmate by robbing a casino. This novel is filled with the insight of a criminal who will finally have a good life no matter what.

Fresh out of Florence State Prison, Dan Boone Crook gets right down to business. For three agonizing years, Crook was tormented by his Apache cellmate, Geronimo, Jr. III. In a crazy coincidence, both of the prisoner's ancestors were famous people who were linked together. Crook was a descendent of General George A. Crook, who served in the Civil War and fought the Native Americans for their land. One of these Indians was Apache Chief Geronimo, who was of course, Geronimo, Jr. III's ancestor.

While both in prison, Geronimo, or as he calls himself, G-Mo-J, harassed Crook with raps he thought of himself. But he did not once rape him; he just did everything else imaginable to make Crook's life a living hell.

Upon Crook's release, he was picked up by his friend's sister, who he used to date, and had some fun he hadn't had for three long years. But, he soon got back on track. He gathered up his old friends and told them of his long awaited plan. The group of four was going to rob an Apache casino, exacting revenge on Crook's former cellmate and also getting rich in the process. Everything goes as planned. but I'll leave the end for the reader to find out.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes crime novels. This book has some good history of the American West, but doesn't tell it in a boring way. There is some profanity and sexual content, so I suggest that this be read by an older person.

After getting out of jail, all Crook can think of is revenge. Revenge on his Indian cellmate. Everything goes great, but he forgot one simple thing, don't mess with Geronimo. Find out what happens in this excellent novel, "Showdown at Apache Gold."
