Coached for Life
Little do coaches, teachers and mentors realize the impact they have on young athletes today. This doesn’t apply only to the field, but in life as a whole. It takes dedication, steps backwards and lots of encouragement and support to get what you want out of life. Regardless of your educational background or socioeconomic level you can be successful if you believe you can. Although sports fans would love this book, as my husband did, for the rest of us it is about how to succeed in life regardless of the obstacles and what others think of you. These two high-school coaches took thirty-seven young men and turned them into leaders and self-efficient men. It wasn’t easy, but with continued support it worked. Not only were they champs on the field, but more importantly they were champs in life and continued the tradition of helping others. As we meet the players, we also get a good feel about the coaches and their philosophy. Each chapter has a Game Plan at the end, which discusses what the focus was on during the chapter and then asks questions so one can see where they are heading and what they need to do. “Coached for Life” is a must read for anyone who wants to be an inspiration for others. |
