Dreamers do change the world. Before you shake your head and say that it is not so, consider that very famous speech given by Dr. King back in 1963. “I have a dream,” he said, and went on to describe how in this dream of his “one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight.” Some forty-five years later his dream is slowly, but surely, turning into reality. “Dream for World Unity” by Haile Gebre Egziabher in many ways reminded me of that speech. It is spiritual, filled with hope and optimistic. While our world might not be quite advanced enough for the message to be clearly heard by the masses, it is dreamers like Haile Gebre Egziabher who ultimately spur the change needed for a real progress.

With a strong emphasis on faith and transformation of individuals through their strong beliefs and willingness to change, Haile Gebre Egziabher shows the reader a workable solution to inequalities in today’s world. Stressing the importance of a more unified government, one strongly reminiscent of the United Nations, he presents a strong case for the feasibility of a plan where, without sacrificing the prosperity of the more advanced ones, all nations could and should set themselves on a path of progress and success. Calling for responsibility, both personal and government-based one, spiritual growth, acceptance and understanding of others, “Dream for World Unity” enlightens and inspires. While the book is at the first sight almost frighteningly large, it turned out to be written in an enjoyable, easygoing style, which should be eminently accessible to a wide variety of readers. With its positive and hope-filled message it should prove to be an uplifting and inspiring read for anybody who wants this world to have a better, brighter and most importantly, more all-inclusive future.
